Data Format

6 types of activity data

In HASC Challenge, we use activity data(*.csv), meta data(*.meta) and label data(*.label).

Segmented Data

  • Targeted Activity:"stay", "walk", "jog", "skip", "stair up", "stair down"
    If you don't know about skip. Please refer to following page. how to skip
  • Measurement time: 20 seconds
  • Number of measurement times: 5 sets
  • Number of person: 5 person
  • Data set: Activity data(*.csv)+Meta Data(*.meta)
  • File name should be unique in each measurement.
    ex)walk1.csv , walk1.meta , jog_set02.csv , jog_set02.meta

Sequence Data

  • Sequence data includes all of activity
  • It is necessary to continue one action for 10 seconds or more.
  • Measurement time: 5 minutes
  • Number of measurement times: 1 set
  • Number of person: 5 person
  • Data set: Activity data(*.csv)+Meta Data(*.meta)+Label Data(*.label)
  • If you could get moving image of your activity, please submit it. About moving image, back shot is also OK.
  • File name should be unique in each measurement.
    ex)sequence1.csv , sequence1.meta , sequence1.label

Real world activity data

  • Movement between landmarks
  • Number of measurement times: 1 set
  • Data set: Activity data(*.csv)+Meta Data(*.meta)+Label Data(*.label)
  • File name should be unique in each measurement.
    ex)sequence1.csv , sequence1.meta , sequence1.label

Data Format - (Accelerometer)

  • File Format:*-acc.csv

  • Segmented Data:20seconds, Sequence Data:5 minutes
  • Sampling Rate:10~100(Hz)

Data Format - (Gyrometer)

  • File Format:*-gyro.csv

  • Segmented Data:20seconds, Sequence Data:5 minutes
  • Sampling Rate:10~100(Hz)

Data Format - (Magnetometric Sensor)

  • File Format:*-mag.csv
  • csv file format
  • [time(sec)],[X axis(μT)],[Y axis(μT)],[Z axis(μT)]
  • Segmented Data:20seconds, Sequence Data:5 minutes

Data Format - (GPS)

  • File Format:*-loc.csv
  • csv file format
  • Segmented Data:20seconds, Sequence Data:5 minutes
  • If you use HASC Logger, you need delete after @

Data Element

Please put following elements in meta data. Of course, you can add a new element which you think. You should not input your individual information such as your name or address.

    Indispensable Element List

  • TerminalType
    You have to split your terminal device information by semicolon ";".
    Format: Manufacturer;Device;OS;Other
    ex) TerminalType: ATR;WAA004
    ex2)TerminalType: Apple;iPod touch 4G;iOS 4.3

  • Frequency(Hz)
    You can select from among 10~100Hz as frequency.
    ex) Frequency: 50

  • Gender
    ex) Gender: male
  • ex) Gender: female
  • Generation
    ex) Generation: 20;early
    ex2) Generation: 30;late

  • Height(cm)
    You should refer to the result of your medical checkup.
    ex) Height(cm): 172

  • Weight(kg)
    You should refer to the result of your medical checkup.
    ex) Weight(kg): 63

  • Shoes
    If your shoes is especially soft or hard, please add these information.
    ex) Shoes: sneakers
    ex2)Shoes: leather shoes
    ex3)Shoes: mule;hard

  • TerminalMount
    In this element, please input information about your terminal device mounting state. Please select either fixed or free.
    • fixed:Sensor movement limit is within 1cm. Sensor angle limit is within 10 degrees.
      ex) The terminal is fixed by band within the above limit (1cm and 10 degree).
    • free:Any other mounting position not within the above limits.
      ex) The terminal is in pants pocket.
    ex) TerminalMount: free

  • TerminalPosition
    In this element, please input information about your terminal device position.
    If TerminalMount is fixed, please refer to the left figure. Else if TermnalMount is free, please refer to the right figure.
    The number of value is more than one, you have to split each value by the semicolon ";".

    ex) TerminalPosition: arm;left;hand
    ex2)TerminalPosition: hip

  • AttachmentDirection

    If floor is especially soft or hard, please add these information.

Submitting Directory Format

6 types of activity data

  • When you submit the participation registration by e-mail, we give you the entry number. If you get your entry number, please name your submitting directory entry + your entry number.
    If your entry number is 02, your directory name is entry02.

  • Please refer to the following list and make directory in each activity.

  • Please refer to the following list and make directory in each subject.

  • Each directory have to include 5 Segmented Data file and a sequence data file.
    • Segmented Data:There are 5 sets of activity file (*.csv) and meta file (*.meta).
    • Activity files name and meta file name have to be same in each measurement.


    • Sequence data:There is 1 set of activity file (*.csv), meta file (*.meta) and label file (*.label).
    • Activity files name, meta file name and label file name have to be same in each measurement.

Real world activity data
